Prepare for Cinco de Mayo

I've never needed much of an excuse to enjoy Mexican food and margaritas. Nonetheless, Cinco de Mayo will provide a pretty good one in just seven days. Not to be confused with Mexican Independence Day on September 16th, Cinco de Mayo (the 5th of May) honors the victory of the Mexican army in the Battle of Puebla in 1862.

This is your chance for a fabulous, fun springtime party. Start your shopping at Kmart.com, where you'll find the Martha Stewart Everyday 5-piece Margarita Set for only $17.99. Get four glasses, a pitcher, a margarita recipe and a 1% rebate from ConsumerClub.com. (Depending on the size of your celebration, you may want to buy a few of these.)

Of course, there's no party without PlumParty.com. This time of year it's the colorful Mexican Celebration Bannersand traditional white wedding banners that catch my eye. You'll also find maracas, place mats, paper flowers, serving sets and the usual overload of cool party stuff from PlumParty.com.

Visit OrientalTradingCompany.com and search with the word "fiesta" and find sombreros, decorative mobiles, beads, plates, maracas, plastic margarita glasses and more, in addition to a 3% rebate from ConsumerClub.com.

Planning a party for the whole family? Visit Pinatas.com to find yes, pinatas, as well as more lovely paper flowers and other fun party stuff for the kiddos. Partying on the porch? You may need pest protection. I've found perhaps the best-looking citronella candles on the market: the Marrakech citronella candles on RedEnvelope.com, where you'll earn a 5% rebate from ConsumerClub.com.

Now all you need is fiesta music. Get a 3% rebate from ConsumerClub.com when you buy your party tunes from iTunes.com or BarnesandNoble.com.

Tea Time

We drink it hot. We drink it cold. We down it for a clear head in the morning. And sip it for a mellow mind in the evening. We serve it to soothe sore throats. Wash down desserts. Greet guests. And much more. These days, tea seems to come in more colors and flavors than candy. But unlike most candy, tea is actually quite good for us.

My mother used to grow her own chamomile, so I've enjoyed herbal teas forever. After living in Texas, I developed an appreciation for the iced variety. And in recent years, I've grown to love green tea (particularly the flavorful matcha) and floral red rooibos tea. All in all, I've enjoyed plenty of loose-leaf teas and bagged brands alike.

Whether you're a seasoned tea-lover or a newcomer looking for a lighter alternative to coffee, here are a few great spots to find the best tea on the web:

MightyLeaf.com
Mighty Leaf not only brings you artisan-crafted whole-leaf tea, but it also delivers that tea in stunning, hand-stitched silken pouches that pack in heaps of tastebud-twisting flavor. Each bag contains some of the best tea leaves, herbs, fruits and spices on earth. And this week you can save $5.00 on Mighty Leaf Tea trios at MightyLeaf.com. (African Nectar is my favorite, by the way.)

AdagioTeas.com
Buy tasty teas, tea pots, tea glasses and more. Read about different types of tea. Join TeaMuse, the monthly tea newsletter. Sign up for the tea-of-the-month club. Get free shipping on orders over $75. And earn 5% back from ConsumerClub.com when you shop AdagioTeas.com.

CoffeeAM.com
Don't let this web site's name deceive you. From rich chai mixes to flavorful loose-leaf green tea to fruity herbal blends, CoffeeAM.com has a delicious selection of teas. Shop CoffeeAM.com and get 5% back from ConsumerClub.com — as well as a free half pound of coffee with your purchase.
